ATT GoPhone and Pageplus Cellular

April 23rd, 2009

Not one day after I switched from Verizon to ATT did I discover PagePlus Cellular. 12 cents a minute with a 50 cent monthly fee and 120 day life per refill. They use the Verizon network so any old Verizon phone works. I’m transfering Gina’s phone right now. I think I could get by with about $30 a year on PagePlus with 83 minutes for $10 every fourth month. ATT will cost me at least $100. I think after my current $25/three month refill goes up I may switch to PagePlus if Gina’s usage goes well. I did want to try ATT since I may be getting an iPhone in July when the new ones are out. At over $800 difference a year that’s less likely to happen now…

Free Wireless Antenna Booster

April 22nd, 2009

This free wireless antenna booster solved a marginal reception problem I was having with using my iPod Touch on our new deck. It’s called the “Ez-12 Parabolic Reflector Template”. Print it out, affix it to some card stock, or a Wheat Thins box in my case. Add some foil, cut, bend and slip over your WiFi antenna. Easy to make and use. Particularly helpful if your wireless sits at one end of your house and you need asymmetrical coverage.

New MINI Cooper Tires

January 4th, 2009

I just ordered a full set of 205/50ZR16 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires for my MINI Cooper S from Tirerack. The stock size is 195/55/16 but many use this size. I’m happy enough with the current wheels and these tires were on sale for $50 each with a $50 rebate on a set of 4. Can’t beat that for performance tires. Just need to wear the last rubber from my current tires now.
